Absolute classic. The attempted takedown of the bloated state of rock n roll music in the late 1970s was written by two NME staff writers, who praise instead the then-ascending punk movement and its protagonists. Birchill and Parsons start as they mean to go on. They like the Sex Pistols and X-Ray Spex, and hate everybody else, spewing venom all over dad rockers The Clash, The Jam, Iggy Pop, The Stranglers, and so on and both seem to particularly hate The New York Dolls. A somewhat venomous and biased rock history written as it was happening by those that knew what was going on.
