SELF PORTRAIT (2003)

Jack Pierson's Self-Portraits is some of his very best work. It's a series of photographic portraits of others, of other men, boys, a child, each photograph bearing the title, "Self-Portrait." Pierson's life is displayed as a body double, a photographic narrative that "virtually" records his life from childhood to old age. The physicality and potential for beauty and decay of Pierson's possible bodies are expressed in self-portraits that bear only numbers.
