We may say this a lot. but this is one of our favorite books. A collection of Bill Burke’s black and white portraits all shot on Polaroid film that began in 1975 as the Kentucky Bicentennial Documentary project but extended far beyond that to other parts of the United States. The almost biblical cast of Burke’s portraits, an insight into the human condition,  forces us to confront the realities of these strangers' existence.
