Peter Beard is known as a multiple characters, Although a socialite in western capitals, he has chosen to hide himself away in Africa most of the time. Like Warhol, a man he was close to, he is always surrounded by crowds of people in the west, a perpetual "tourist" among his own. He was a true ethnologist of the contemporary world and his work openly denounces the behavior of 'modern man' who has steadily destroyed African civilization and its environment. His work will live on as an incredibly unique amalgamation of art and documentary photography.
