Tadanori Yokoo is a Japanese graphic designer, illustrator, printmaker, and painter renowned for his vivid, psychedelic visual language and richly layered imagery. Drawing from both Japanese and global cultural references, Yokoo developed a highly distinctive style that blends pop culture, traditional iconography, surrealism, and graphic experimentation. At 22 years old, he received an honourable mention at the Japanese Advertising Artists Club poster exhibition, then became a member and moved to Tokyo around 1960. By the mid-1960s, Yokoo had emerged as one of the most influential young artists of postwar Japan. He achieved international recognition for his work which was included in the 1968 "Word & Image" exhibition at the MoMA in New York.
