Which translates to "For when I'm weak, I'm strong"; published on the occasion of the exhibition by the same name at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, from September 7 - November 17, 1996. Inspired by artists such as Gerhard Richter, Robert Rauschenberg, and Andy Warhol, Wolfgang Tillmans emerged as one of the defining voices of contemporary photography after moving to London in the late 1980s. Closely associated with influential magazines including i-D and Interview, Tillmans developed a groundbreaking visual language that blurred the boundaries between photography, documentary, and conceptual art.
