Bold & Beautiful is born from a documentary impulse by Ezra Petronio, Editor-in-Chief of the Paris-based fashion and arts magazine Self Service. Over several years, hundreds of people entered the doors of the magazine's office and posed in front of the flash of his original 1970s Polaroid camera. He captured intimate moments not just of the magazine's extended family tree but of the culture, since those who gathered there were designers, musicians, artists, photographers, writers, and thinkers of all stripes--establishment and avant-garde, the creative community and fashionable society, old friends, new friends and friends of friends. The list of subjects crosses genres in more than 270 portraits, including those of Hedi Slimane, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Hussein Chalayan, Nick Knight, Alexander McQueen, Grace Coddington, Donna Karan, Miuccia Prada, Marianne Faithfull, Jarvis Cocker, Yvon Lambert, Sam Taylor-Wood, Michael Clark, Tracey Emin, Jeffrey Deitch, Vanessa Beecroft, Ugo Rondinone, Louise Bourgeois, Jenny Holzer, Terry Richardson, Philip-Lorca di Corcia, David Armstrong, Matthew Marks, Sarah Morris, Isabelle Adjani, Chloe Sevigny, Jonathan Newhouse, Ingrid Sischy and Graydon Carter among others.
