Kyoichi Tsuzuki, born and bred in Tokyo, was the editor for iconic Japanese magazine Popeye, and Brutus and then went on to produce ArT RANDOM and Tokyo Style, which is a book we love. In 1991 he set off on a mission to photograph all the weird and wonderful things you might come across on the side roads of Japan. People say he's still out there... combing the backroads for the next thing to document.

The book features photos, stories and information in Japanese with English translations so you can really get into the weeds of it. A really good one is the Statue of Liberty phenomena, where loads of miniature lit-up ladies stand proudly on top of 'love hotels', pachinko parlours, car dealerships and any other more 'libertarian' retail outlet. Associating sex and gambling with America...fair enough.  Sometimes, she's holding a miniature version of herself for extra liberty!
