The book was published to coincide with the MoMA exhibition of the same name. One of the most important photobooks in modern history. Incredible images, mostly of people, everyday people in everyday surroundings but perfectly captured by Nixon. In Pictures Of People he often tries to communicate the difference between public behavior and private moments. In this book he documents the residents of old age homes, people terminally ill from AIDS-related complications, and people interacting with their neighbors from the once public and private spaces of their front porches.
