An intimate, powerful and incredibly immersive project from a talented photographer. Over two years, Jessica Dimmock photographed a group of heroin users living on the Ninth Floor of a Manhattan apartment building. The tale of the consequences of drug use has been documented many times before by the likes of Larry Clark & Eugene Richards, to name but a few. Jessica's project stands out, even above the aforementioned seminal works, due to the deep compassion and connectivity for the people she photographed and spent time with. Managing to capture the atmosphere of human lives descending into chaos with sensitivity and respect, her contemporary visual language, coupled with a strong narrative approach, compels the viewer to likewise have an understanding and sense of care. A harrowingly acute portrayal of a global issue that transcends gender, race, religion and class.
