Corinne Day burst onto the scene in the early 90s with pictures of her friend, the soon-to-be-most-famous modelin the world, Kate Moss. With these images came a shift in the visual culture of fashion in the 90s, and so-called 'Heroin-chic' was born. Corinne's work was controversial at the time and was accused of championing an alternative fashion look that leaned away from glamour and gave us a raw look at fashion. I think the problem was really that Corinne's images felt real, unembellished and authentic as snapshots of her world and her life; they had a fragile, unstyled, poetic beauty that she made all her own. Day died in August 2010, and this is the first and only book published posthumously.
